Multiple Performances: Davenport Perth Neighbourhood Centre, 1900 Davenport Road Oy di velt vet vern yinger, Oh the world will grow younger is about the persistent urge to build Utopia: "heaven on earth". It tells a story of the Toronto Jewish Left, from a children’s work commune in 1920’s Russia, through disillusion, rifts and changes, to its celebration and survival at Camp Naivelt, a secular, progressive Jewish community still existing in the midst of Brampton’s suburban encroachment. Oy di velt vet vern yinger is inspired by the historical research of Professor Ester Reiter and the memoirs of Manya Lipshitz. Featuring a multi-age community cast, through an interactive and participatory performance, you will be both an audience member and participant, add your own voice and views, and enjoy refreshments and a documentary installation. The artistic and production team includes Ruth Howard, Martin van de Ven, Lisa Marie DiLiberto, Sean Frey, Noah Kenneally, Michelle Silagy, Magi Oman, Mitch Willer, Allan Merovitz, Charles Ketchebaw, Maggie Hutcheson, Leah Houston, Michael Burtt, Abby Callard, Keith McNair and others. Seats are limited, and advance reservations are advised. Contact Jumblies Theatre at 416-203-8428 for information. Co-sponsored and supported by Camp Naivelt and the United Jewish People’s Order, Professor Ester Reiter, Davenport Perth Neighbourhood Centre, Arts4All and Mabelle Arts (Jumblies’ Offshoot Projects).
