On Sunday, Dec. 20th, Jumblies took part in our last event of 2015 – a community potluck held at our upstairs neighbour, 150 Dan Leckie by the Railway Lands Residents Group. Those us there to enliven the event were Ruth, Mackenzie, Fiona, Jackie, Shifra, musicians Steve and Eli and Sandra and Shelly from our Community Choir. We set up an art-making table, creating post-cards for our project with composer Emilie LeBel and images of longing for home to be presented on an overhead projector during the song Frobisher Bay (with the overall projections designed by Ange Loft for our Wednesday drop-ins). The choir members (with some new recruits) sang two songs, and we paraded around the room with a group of children, animal masks (also designed by Ange Loft for our Playing With Theatre children’s group) and our giant lake creature puppet (made by Mackenzie Konecny with kids from Alpha Alternative School). Thanks to Mohamed, Celeste, Ralph and Tonia for including Jumblies once again, and happy to holidays to all our staff, friends and neighbours!
Everyone is Welcome!
Jumblies makes art in everyday and extraordinary places with, for and about the people and stories found there, creating transient utopias and far-reaching ripples.
