Fresh Ideas In Puppetry Coming Up!

presents: An inspiring day for puppetry enthusiasts:

FRESH IDEAS IN PUPPETRY
JUNE 5TH
a ONE DAY convivial gathering
dedicated to the exploration of
new developments in puppetry

Daytime programming: Join in a participatory workshop led by Jamie Ashby & Grey Muldoon of Bricoteer Puppetry Project; learn from the many years experience of Jumblies Theatre as they discuss their community arts work; discover new play development strategies as Eric Woolfe reveals his process in creating The Haunted Medicine Show; hear about Puppetmongers’ Puppetry Exploratory Laboratory from the perspective of current participants as they present & discuss a work-in-progress, and engage with a lively Panel to discuss the Training of Puppeteers (with David Anderson of Clay & Paper Theatre, Paul DeJong and Heather Kent from the Humber College Theatre Program, Jamie Shannon of “Nanalan” and other tv puppetry creation, Marthe Adam of UQAM’s puppetry arts program,  facilitated by Anne Barber of Shadowland Theatre).

Our evening cabaret: features work by Artichoke Heart Collective, Sean Frey, Humber College Theatre Program students, Dutch Uncle Puppetry, My Brother the Changeling, and a fresh new company spawned by last year’s PXL program named Saints & Sinners.  All MC’d by Ronnie Burkett.

NEW THIS YEAR:  We will also be simultaneously hosting the UNIMA Canada Annual General Meeting, and
A NEW VENUE TOO!  We are growing.  Join us at the Robert Gill Theatre in the Koffler Centre on the University of Toronto campus — 3rd Floor 213 College Street at St. George

Join us just for the day, just the evening, or for the whole she-bang followed by a party.

Let Alvaro Stay!

Alvaro Antonio Orozco is a young artist who volunteered with Jumblies and Arts4All in 2009 and 2010. He’s a talented, passionate and motivated visual artist and photographer, dedicated advocate for queer and newcomer youth and recipient of the 2010 Street-Level Advocate Award from the Toronto Youth Cabinet and City of Toronto. Alvaro was arrested on May 13th, as an undocumented resident, and is now in a detention centre, faced with deportation to Nicaragua.

Here’s what you can do to help:
