adapted from The Winter’s Tale by William Shakespeare
with an original musical score by Juliet Palmer, directed by Varrick Grimes and choreographed by Penny Couchie with many other collaborating artists and community members.

Next Arts For All Essentials in February

We’re pleased to announce our 7th Toronto Arts For All Essentials:

February 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 – 10am – 6pm
plus some evening social and artistic options, and a final celebration
at Cedar Ridge Creative Centre and other Jumblies project & partner locations.

What is it?

  • An intensive workshop on the principals, practices and underpinnings of art that engages with and creates community,
  • Everything (or many things!) you need to know to start your own project,
  • A prelude to future work or internships with Jumblies.
  • Open to artists and arts administrators of all ages, disciplines and traditions, from Toronto, across Canada and abroad, and also suitable for those from other professions with a special interest in community-engaged arts.Format: Presentations, discussions, guest presenters, hands-on workshops, creative explorations, videos, site visits, take-home resources.

Cost: $300. Accommodation: For out of towners, we can help you find affordable billets. Meals: First lunch, coffee/tea and snacks provided, otherwise, bring or buy your own.

To Register: E-mail info@jumbliestheatre.org to request an application form. We are accepting on a first-come-first serve basis applicants who seem a good fit for the workshop. We will admit up to 20 people and then create a waiting list.

VIVA Book Launch

Friday Oct. 28th, 6:30 to 9:00, Native Canadian Centre, 16 Spadina Ave, will see the launch of the book: VIVA! Community Arts and Popular Education in the Americas (SUNY Press and Between the Lines), edited by Deb Barndt and including a chapter by Ruth Howard about Bridge one Hair project in Etobicoke. Many thanks to Alterna Savings!

Last week, Jumblies was grateful to receive a donation of $2,500 towardsour production of Like An Old Tale from Alterna Savings where Jumblies banks.  Alterna representative, Crystal Mackay, delivered the check to Ruth Howard and was given a tour of our Scarborough project sites.
