Research and Development (2006 - 2007)
Year 1
- Field Research Kits are given to 37 community members,
- Martin van de Ven teaches people how to listen to, collect and edit sounds,
- Sybil Goldstein and Debblie O Rourke offer visual arts workshops,
- We take memory walks to the ruins of Bunk 12 and the Old Beach,
- A “Museum of Found Objects” is created in the Art Cottage,
- An outdoor art exhibition celebrates the end of this phase.
Year 2
- Cottage history archives are compiled with binders, photos and sticky notes,
- Martin van de Ven plays digital found sound compositions,
- Current Naivelters are interviewed and recorded,
- Ester Reiter’s interviews from the 1980’s are listened to and selectively transcribed,
- Current and past voices are assembled into audio script.
