SEAN FREY

Sean Frey is a puppeteer, designer, movie maker and community-based theatre artist. Sean has worked at Spiral Garden as a mask and puppet artist, extensively with Jumblies Theatre as a lead artist and designer, with Ahuri Theatre as a designer and projection artist, as well as cultivating his own artistic practice and independent projects. In 2008, he was awarded a year-long design internship grant with Jumblies from the George Cedric Metcalf Charitable Foundation. He was also an artist/participant in Harrel Fletcher’s collaborative art project “Born Out of Pleasure” at the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery. In 2009, he worked with shadow theatre and projections artist Clea Minaker and musician Leslie Feist on “The Living Lantern” presented at Casteliers Puppet Festival. In 2011 Sean was co-nominated for two Dora awards in Costume and Set Design for Ahuri Theatre’s A Fool’s Life. He also has designed spaces, costumes and live shadow puppetry and projections for musicians Evening Hymns, Snowblink, Tasseomancy, Kite Hill, Lisa Bozikovic and Tessa Jones. Sean’s artistic interests presently lead him into exploring the intersection of performance and visual arts, and include projections, film, light and shadow.
