Like an Old Tale

Come to LIKE AN OLD TALE, a retelling of The Winters Tale by Shakespeare with dance, opera, puppets, projections, stilts, food and hundreds of participants from Scarborough, around the city and farther afield.

This production is the culmination of Jumblies’ four year residency in Scarborough and includes the stories, voices and creations of the people and places we have worked with here.

We are asking every audience member to help to tell the story. One of our goals is to blur the line between audience member, participant and artist, so that everyone who attends is implicated in the creation of that particular performance.

When you reserve your ticket you can choose from a few ways to take part:

  • join us for an advance community rehearsal at a date and location to be announced
  • come an hour early and learn a simple role (e.g. soundscape or movement)
  • receive a package in the mail with a request to contribute a snippet of text
  • just show up and be included as you enjoy the show

No prior experience is required for any of these options. We look forward to seeing you there.
